ACTION CAMERA ATC5K

Taken with my new Canon 1Ds Mark II. Well, OK, I just like typing that. I stopped by The Camera Store and tried out about $10,000 worth of camera equipment. What could I take pictures of? Well, OK, my bike in the parking lot.

I tried the Canon 85mm prime lens, which actually I really liked, then the L-Series Canon 50mm prime F/1.2 lens (what a monster that thing was), and lastly, the L-Series 17-40mm zoom lens. Calling that lens a zoom lens was sort of a misnomer, especially when mounted to the Canon 5D or 1DS, which have full-frame sensors. I swear, I took this picture with the rear tail light lens literally almost touching the camera's lens.

A while back I saw a National Geographic special about one of their photographers and one time, while covering a rodeo, they had actually assigned a guy to pull him back from the shots just in case he gets too close. Playing with this lens, it's really easy to imagine wanting to get closer... and closer... and CLOSER... until you get whacked in the face by a bucking bronco! Danger.

This is a rare one, passed near the house once but later came back (straight over us) & I had the Pentax ready (in sport mode - should have set it to shutter priority)!
